This highly stylized calligraphy lyrics video by the amazing Leigh Reyes, a mesmerizing interpretation of one my new favorite songs, Catch and Release by Matt Simons, is visually stunning. From start to finish, it's hypnotic. You will definitely get drawn in, even before you realize it, and even if you're not into calligraphy, fountain pens, inks, and all that sort of thing.
On a technical note, Leigh has written in her blog, Life As A Verb, about this video:
"This is the first time I’ve done a lyrics video without a regular fountain pen. I wanted to experiment with new effects. The paper is (mostly) Yupo, which is 100% polypropylene. It has unexpected interactions with water-based media. Nothing sinks in, because it’s waterproof. Inks used are Dr. Ph Martin’s Bleedproof White, Pilot Blue Black, Franklin-Christoph Midnight Emerald and Noir et Bleu, Diamine Violet, J Herbin Diabolo Menthe, Pink Tendresse and Bouton d’Or, and Sailor Nioi Sumire and Tokiwa Matsu."
Leigh has done a few of these calligraphy lyrics videos that you can watch on her fascinating YouTube channel. And, make sure to check out her awesome blog as well, called My Life As A Verb. Around these places, we adore Leigh, her talents, and her works.
