When my Dad was alive, my Mom went to all trips with him. They traveled together all the time, and they were inseparable. It has been more than three years since my Dad passed away, and today, my 76-year-old Mom is taking a trip to the Philippines by herself for the first time. She is taking a month-long vacation and she will be attending the graduation from medical school of her granddaughter, Jonika Maris Libiran. I'm sure my Mom will manage the trip on her own without any trouble, but just the same, we'd like to be able to follow the progress of her voyage using the FlightTracker and the FlightBoard apps on my iPhone and iPad, and notifications on my Apple Watch. These 2 apps provide the most up-to-date information and status of her flights. In some ways, these apps will help make us, her children, feel that even if only a little bit, she's not alone on her flights and on her trip, and we are always with her. I love it that technology allows us to do this, something that's quite impossible only a few years ago, to remain firmly connected in surprisingly human and incredible ways. Wishing my Mom a safe, happy, and memorable trip.
