Jason Snell's initial impressions on Photos for OS X ...

"The prospect of moving photography apps is daunting, but even die-hard users of iPhoto and Aperture would probably admit that the old versions had become increasingly slow and wonky. Rather than rip them apart, Apple decided to start fresh, which may sound familiar to users of many other Apple apps, including Final Cut Pro and both the iLife and iWork suites."

Jason Snell is one of my all-time favorite tech journalists specially when it comes to all things Apple. The clarity of his writing is remarkable, and his insights are always spot on. And though I don't personally know him, I get the impression from his articles, podcasts, blog and Twitter posts that he's an overall great guy. His upcoming Take Control book to be published by TidBITS, a Crash Course on Photos, is going to be a must-read for Mac, iPhone and iPad users. And by the way, check out his awesome Six Colors blog.
